"Sweet Hearts" is part of my Heart Series a collection of artworks that draws inspiration from both my talented actress friend and the nostalgic memories of childhood. This series revolves around the incorporation of hearts, symbolizing love, emotions, and connections.
Influenced by the childlike joy of sweets, particularly gummy bears with a playful and whimsical quality. This piece in the series features vibrant, multi-colored sweets that represent people of diverse nationalities, highlighting the beauty and unity in diversity.
Through the Heart Series I explore the concept of love and its universal nature. The use of hearts as a recurring motif evokes a sense of warmth, compassion, and affection, while the variety of colors symbolizes the rich tapestry of cultures and backgrounds that make up our world.
"Sweet Hearts" invites viewers to embrace their inner child and connect with the pure, innocent joy of love and togetherness. Capturing the essence of human relationships and encourages a celebration of our shared humanity and is a reminder that love knows no boundaries and that embracing diversity can lead to a more harmonious and inclusive world.

"Mayan HEART" pays homage to the vibrant Mayan culture, combining elements that symbolize both its opulence and transience. The artwork features golden glitter, representing the richness and splendor of Mayan civilization, while the original black organic sand from the Guatemala West Pacific coast represents the transient nature of culture.
The golden glitter signifies the wealth and prosperity associated with Mayan culture. It serves as a visual representation of the grandeur, intricacy, and artistic achievements of the Mayan civilization. The shimmering golden particles evoke a sense of luxury and evoke the golden artifacts and elaborate craftsmanship often associated with Mayan art.
On the other hand, the black organic sand sourced from the Guatemala West Pacific coast adds an element of transience and impermanence to the artwork. This sand, derived from volcanic stone ground into splinters of black glass, reflects the notion that cultures, no matter how rich and opulent, are subject to change and the passage of time. It represents the ephemerality of human creations and serves as a reminder of the transient nature of cultural heritage.
By juxtaposing the golden glitter and the black organic sand, Sasa Roche creates a visual contrast that encapsulates the duality of the Mayan culture. It speaks to the profound historical significance and artistic legacy of the Mayan civilization while acknowledging the impermanence and fragility of cultural traditions over time.
Through this artwork, Sasa Roche invites viewers to contemplate the complexities of culture, its richness, and its ephemeral nature. It serves as a tribute to the Mayan civilization and encourages a deeper understanding and appreciation of the cultural tapestry that shapes our world.

"Liquorice Heart" is an artwork that combines elements of childlike whimsy with adult sophistication. This heart-shaped piece features individual sweets carefully placed and then covered in glitter black paint, accentuated by a surrounding of white glitter.
The incorporation of liquorice sweets, known for their distinctive flavor and texture, adds a playful and nostalgic touch to the artwork. It harkens back to the innocent joy of childhood and evokes a sense of delight and whimsy. By using these individual sweets as the building blocks of the heart, it creates a visual representation of the childlike essence within us all.
The juxtaposition of the black glitter paint and the white glitter surroundings adds an element of adult sophistication to the piece. The combination of these contrasting colors represents a duality—where the childlike innocence meets the complexities and elegance of the adult world. The black color signifies maturity, elegance, and mystery, while the white glitter alludes to purity, clarity, and light.
"Liquorice Heart" serves as a visual metaphor for the intersection of childlike wonder and adult refinement. It invites viewers to reflect on the complexities of growing up while celebrating the joy and innocence that can still be found within us.
This artwork, creates a dialogue between contrasting elements, merging childhood nostalgia with adult sophistication, hopefully within the Viewer; sparks contemplation, evokes emotion, and invites viewers to explore the intricate layers of their own experiences.
